The Colorado Green Business Network (CGBN) within the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has recognized The Alliance Center as a CGBN Gold Certified business!
CGBN is a voluntary program that encourages, supports and rewards organizations moving toward the goal of true, operational sustainability. CGBN works with organizations throughout the state to increase the efficiency and sustainability of their operations. They do this by providing free technical assistance, assessing opportunities for growth and providing connections to beneficial resources such as funding and network opportunities. Their assessments for growth are holistic, covering emissions, water, waste, energy, transportation and policy. Most importantly, they raise the standard for how businesses should operate.
As a Gold CGBN Certified business, The Alliance Center has been recognized as an organization that exceedingly excels at sustainable operations in our sector. We’ve made large scale changes to realize reductions in resource use without losing sight of our emphasis on long-term sustainability and equity.
Changes We Have Made
- Replacing lighting with LEDs
- Recycling and composting on-site
- Utilizing low-impact materials such as interface flooring
- Offering a hard-to-recycle center to the public community
- Providing showers and lockers to encourage biking
- Utilizing solar panels to offset peak demand
- Operating 100% electric with no natural gas on-site

Areas of Growth
CGBN has advised us on areas of growth. The projects we are currently most interested in pursuing include:
- Developing a rainwater catchment system
- Conducting a small GHG inventory to analyze our GHG emissions and reductions
The Alliance building has always been at the forefront of true, operational sustainability, and we believe that participating in Colorado Green Network’s program is important to our values.
