The Alliance for Collective Action convenes leaders of environmental and social movements. We advance our mission through two programs, The Center and The Coalition, both of which operate from a collective action framework.
We bring people together to develop and advance solutions for a thriving planet.
We believe in a regenerative future where people and planet are treated with love, dignity and respect.
We unite the collective power of environmental and social movements so that together we can move from merely surviving to truly thriving.
WHAT IS REGENERATIVE?
Regenerative means to restore, to renew, to heal. The climate crisis we face was created by the degenerative, extractive and exploitative systems at play in our lives. Sustainability refers to maintaining and preserving—anything can be sustained for a certain amount of time, including those harmful systems. But when systems take more than they give, they eventually lead to collapse. Regenerative practices work to heal the damage caused by humanity’s overconsumption and create new systems in balance with nature. We believe that regeneration and sustainability work together in a cycle that honors the constant change and flux of our world.
We work to build a regenerative future based on the eight building blocks listed below. Informed by deep community listening, these eight building blocks are grounded in four foundational elements: (1) driving systems-level climate solutions (2) through collective action, and (3) weaving equity through all our work to (4) advance well-being for all.
These building blocks do not exist in isolation. They are inherently interconnected, and progress in one impacts progress in another.
OUR WORK ADVANCES SOLUTIONS THAT...
- Transition rapidly to renewable, distributed, and reliable energy.
- Improve soil health, strengthen and support regenerative food systems and communities.
- Prioritize human dignified workforce development.
- Build, engage and support regenerative organizations and industries.
- Adopt regenerative and circular economic models.
- Empower and inform people to crowdsource solutions that work for them.
- Increase civic participation to strengthen democratic systems and pass regenerative policies.
- Design infrastructure through biomimicry and honor the connection to the natural environment.
The following Levers for Change delineate how we drive action in support of our strategic priorities. Each lever can grow in lift and impact in tandem with a deliverable’s needs and goals. Initiatives, projects and programs fall into one of the categories below, determining our role and process for carrying out the deliverables.
We convene and connect our tenants, members, community leaders and change agents to advance solutions.
We leverage connections with leaders from government, academia, for-profit, nonprofit and communities to influence public policy, public messaging and the flow of funds to regenerative solutions.
We support members and tenants to do their work better, faster and with more positive impact.
We mobilize our members and tenants to advance projects designed to scale and accelerate progress toward a regenerative future.
Normal didn’t work for many. We must create and sustain new systems for humans to live in balance with nature.
Equity must be authentically woven into all we do.
An Imperfect Journey
Sometimes we will knock it out of the park and sometimes we will strike out, but we always learn, improve and innovate.
Gift of Feedback
We want to hear all points of view and will apply those most appropriate, aligned and positively impactful.
We will tell our truth and respect other’s perspectives.
