SUMMARY:Terrible Beauty: Reckoning with Climate Complicity and Rediscovering Our Soul\, An Evening with Author Auden Schendler
DESCRIPTION:Join E2 and the Alliance for Collective Action for a thought-provoking talk from Auden Schendler about what’s needed to alter our present course on the climate crisis. Schendler\, a veteran of corporate sustainability\, will share highlights from his new book\, and we’ll hear his views about what we really need to move the needle on climate: strong policy at every level.  \n  \nSustainable business practices have been one piece of the toolkit to mitigate climate change since the 1990s. How are we to gauge the success of these corporate efforts? Schendler will discuss his perspective from his many years on the front lines. He hopes you will walk away with a new understanding of the path forward\, full of hard work\, but also joy.  \n  \nDATE: Tuesday\, June 10\, 2025  \nTIME: 5 – 7 pm  \nLOCATION: The Alliance Center\, 1536 Wynkoop St.\, Denver\, CO  \nDrinks and Light Appetizers will be served  \n  \nRSVP HERE  \n  \nAbout the Speaker:  \nA 30-year veteran of the corporate sustainability movement\, Auden Schendler is the author of the book\, “Getting Green Done: Hard Truths from the Front Lines of the Sustainability Revolution\,” which climatologist James Hansen called “an antidote to greenwash”. And new this year “Terrible Beauty: Reckoning with Climate Complicity and Rediscovering Our Soul”\, which former EPA head Gina McCarthy described as like “picking a lock on someone’s personal diary.”  A former Air Quality Control Commissioner and town councilman in Colorado\, Auden has also cooked burgers\, taught high school\, served as a medic on a rural ambulance service\, and climbed Denali\, North America’s highest peak. According to environmentalist Bill McKibben\,“No one has more hard-earned credibility than Auden Schendler when it comes to taking on the charade that is often corporate sustainability.”  \n  \nAbout E2:  \nWe are a national\, nonpartisan group of business leaders\, investors\, and professionals from every sector of the economy who advocate for smart policies that are good for the economy and good for the environment. Our members have founded or funded more than 2\,500 companies\, created more than 600\,000 jobs\, and manage more than $100 billion in venture and private equity capital.
